Universal Game Controller Mapper for Claude & AI Agents
The Universal Game Controller Mapper is an AI agent skill designed to enable seamless integration of various game controllers with game applications. It effectively remaps inputs from a multitude of controllers, including DualSense, Xbox, Switch Pro, keyboard, and touch interfaces, for use with Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex.
What this skill does
This skill reads a configuration file located at console/controls.json, which contains layout presets and per-button overrides. It processes mappings for radial deadzone settings, Y-axis inversion, stick swaps, analog trigger thresholds, keyboard key bindings, and dual player configurations, as well as Android touch zones. The skill then generates a replacement file, console/ps2_pad.cpp, as a drop-in substitute for PS2Recomp's ps2xRuntime/src/lib/ps2_pad.cpp. An optional feature for input replay and recording facilitates scripted test runs. Prior to replacing the file, it secures a backup of the stock file, applying changes only to the specified PS2Recomp workspace.
Who it is for
This skill is intended for developers and teams employing AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex. It is particularly beneficial for teams that need to troubleshoot controller compatibility issues or customize controller settings.
Use cases
Providing custom controller mapping for games where default configurations are insufficient.
Assisting developers in ensuring compatibility across different types of controllers, such as Xbox and Switch Pro.
Testing in-game controls through scripted inputs and recording sessions for quality assurance processes.
Facilitating dual-player setups or custom touch controls on Android platforms.
Technical details
The skill employs AI application tools compatible with the console-controller framework. It rewrites the PS2Recomp input backend by generating a new ps2_pad.cpp file from the controls.json definitions. Interactions with Raylib are maintained so that any gamepad recognized by Raylib can be remapped as a DualShock 2 controller. Rumble feature wiring is not supported. Incremental recompilation ensures minimal disruption to the existing runtime environment.
