Effortlessly Create GitHub PRs with AI Agent Skill
This AI agent skill facilitates the creation of GitHub Pull Requests (PRs) from the current branch. It supports users when they command "create a PR", "open a pull request", or "submit a PR". If the active session involves multiple repositories, a pull request is created for each, following a specific procedural sequence.
What this skill does
Check state: Executes `git status` and `git branch --show-current` to ascertain the state of the repository.
Prepare a branch: Updates the main/master branch by fetching the latest version. If on the main/master branch, it creates a new one with a descriptive name derived from conversation context. Transfers any uncommitted changes to the new branch. Otherwise, rebases the current branch onto the latest base.
Handle uncommitted changes: Inquire whether the user wishes to commit uncommitted changes before proceeding, ensuring a clean working state.
Push the branch: Pushes the current branch to the remote repository using `git push -u origin`.
Gather context: Reads the git log for recent commits since the branch diverged from the base, and utilizes PR templates if available in the repository at `.github/pull_request_template.md` or its equivalent.
